Clear answers about the platform, Sustainability Score, verification tiers, and how Ghanaian SMEs get investment-ready on AscendSME.
About AscendSME
What is AscendSME?+
AscendSME is an all-in-one business management platform built for African SMEs. It connects invoicing, receipts, inventory, online shop, CRM, finance, and verification in one place so business owners can run operations and build an investment-ready track record from the same system.
Who is AscendSME for?+
AscendSME is for Ghanaian and African small and medium enterprises that want to formalise operations, serve customers digitally, and become credible to investors, lenders, and partners. It is designed for business owners, not developers.
How is AscendSME different from generic business software?+
Most software only stores records. AscendSME pairs operational tools with human Account Managers, a verification framework, and a Sustainability Score built from how the business actually runs. That turns daily activity into a verifiable credibility record.
Where does AscendSME operate?+
AscendSME started in Ghana and is built for the Ghanaian market first, with a pan-African vision. Pricing, payments, and workflows reflect local realities such as MTN MoMo, WhatsApp, and Ghanaian registration requirements.
Who built AscendSME?+
AscendSME is built by Bold Vision MultiTech (BVM), a technology solutions group based in Accra, Ghana. BVM builds digital infrastructure for African SMEs through products, services, and training.
The Sustainability Score
What is the Sustainability Score?+
The Sustainability Score is AscendSME's proprietary credibility score for SMEs. It is built from real operational behaviour on the platform, not self-reported pitch deck claims. It shows how consistently a business runs, records, and verifies its activity over time.
Why does the Sustainability Score matter for funding?+
Investors and lenders need evidence, not promises. The Sustainability Score gives them a structured signal based on invoicing discipline, verification status, customer activity, and operational consistency. It helps bridge day-to-day business activity and capital access.
How is the Sustainability Score calculated?+
The score draws on verified business data, platform usage, financial record quality, compliance milestones, and progress through AscendSME's FOCG framework. It updates as the business operates on the platform and completes verification steps.
What is the maximum Sustainability Score?+
Businesses on AscendSME are scored out of 850. Higher scores reflect stronger operational consistency, verification progress, and platform engagement.
Can I improve my Sustainability Score?+
Yes. You improve it by using AscendSME consistently, keeping records current, completing verification tasks, serving customers through the platform, and following your Account Manager pathway recommendations.
Is the Sustainability Score the same as a credit score from a bank?+
No. It is an AscendSME operational credibility score built from verified business behaviour. Banks may use their own credit models, but the Sustainability Score gives investors and partners a clearer picture of how the business actually runs.
Do customers see my Sustainability Score?+
Businesses control what appears on their public directory profile. You can choose to show your sustainability stage and verification tier where it helps build trust with buyers, partners, and investors.
What is the FOCG framework?+
FOCG stands for Financial, Operational, Growth, and Compliance. It is AscendSME's structured model for assessing business readiness. Financial covers records and cash discipline. Operational covers how the business runs day to day. Growth covers customer and revenue activity. Compliance covers registration, tax, and verification milestones.
Verification Tiers
What are AscendSME verification tiers?+
AscendSME uses three public stages: Foundation, Growth, and Verified. Foundation means the business has started formalising on the platform. Growth means stronger records and operational consistency. Verified means the business has reached AscendSME's highest trust tier, often shown as Indigo.
What is Foundation tier?+
Foundation tier is the starting stage for businesses building basic digital infrastructure on AscendSME. It signals early formalisation, profile setup, and initial operational activity.
What is Growth tier?+
Growth tier shows that a business is operating with stronger consistency, better records, and meaningful platform usage. It is the stage where operational discipline becomes visible to partners and investors.
What is Verified tier?+
Verified tier, shown as Indigo on AscendSME, represents the highest level of platform verification and trust. These businesses have progressed through key compliance and operational checks and stand out in the AscendSME directory.
How do I move to the next verification tier?+
Complete the tasks in your Verification Center, upload required documents such as Ghana Card, business registration, and TIN where applicable, maintain accurate business records, and follow your Account Manager pathway.
